Witness appeal following fatal bus crash

Police have launched a public appeal for witnesses, as they continue to investigate the weekend’s fatal bus crash at Gumlu in North Queensland.

Initial investigations indicate the bus, with 33 people on board, crossed onto the wrong side of the Bruce Highway and collided with a Landcruiser towing a caravan, around 11am on Sunday June 30.

Three passengers from the bus, including a 33-year-old German woman, a 21-year-old German woman, and a 56-year-old Townsville woman, died at the scene,.

Several others were seriously injured.

Police are calling for anyone with relevant dashcam footage, or any nearby motorists to come forward.

They particularly want to speak to the driver of a white ute, believed to be travelling behind the bus prior to the crash.
