Investigations are underway after more than 20 Townsville primary students fell ill after eating an unknown substance.
Paramedics were called to Bluewater State School around 10am Thursday, to reports of kids becoming sick from eating lollies allegedly handed out by a bus driver.
It’s understood the sweets had been mixed with a ‘white substance’.
Queensland Ambulance Service Senior Operations Supervisor David Wright says they ended up transporting 14 students aged 8-12 to Townsville University Hospital for observation.
“The symptoms include some nausea, a little abdominal pain and light headiness,” he says.
Police, the Department of Education and Queensland Health are investigating the source of the illness.
