A 26-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly escaping from a low-security correctional centre at Stuart on Christmas Day.
Police were called to the facility at approximately 4am on December 25, following reports two women, aged 26 and 44, were unaccounted for.
Following extensive investigations the 26-year-old woman was located at a Deeragun address on Saturday, and was taken into custody without incident.
She has been charged with one count of escape from lawful custody, and has been refused bail to appear before Townsville Magistrates Court today.
Investigations are ongoing in relation to the 44-year-old woman, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who may see the 44-year-old is urged to not approach, and immediately call Triple Zero (000).
