Two people have died following a traffic crash at Wunjunga, approximately 22km south of Home Hill.
Initial investigations indicate just before 11.30am on Friday a crash has occurred between a truck and a vehicle, subsequently involving a third vehicle on the Bruce Highway.
The driver of the vehicle, a 67-year-old Hervey Bay man, died from his injuries at the scene.
The sole passenger in the vehicle, a 62-year-old Hervey Bay woman, was airlifted in a critical condition to Townsville University Hospital, where she subsequently died as a result of her injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 61-year-old Deeragun woman, was not physically injured.
The driver of the third vehicle, a 36-year-old Sarina Man was not physically injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage in the area at the time is urged to contact police.
