Townsville and Cairns locals may have felt temperatures rising over the weekend, with the Bureau claiming it’s only going to get worst through the week.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an extreme heatwave warning for residents living in Port Douglas, Cairns, Atherton, Ingham, Townsville and Charters Towers.
Most towns will have temps in the mid to high 30s for the rest of the week and the humidity will make it feel even warmer.

Residents are urged to plan ahead for power outages, be indoors during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of water and keep an eye on elderly neighbours.
