A stolen car has been linked to a string of brazen crimes across Townsville.
The Audi was stolen from a Belgian Gardens residence overnight on Monday, before police found it dumped on Thursday morning.
In that time, the vehicle has been involved in a number of incidents, including attempted break and enters, thefts and fuel drive-offs.
One incident saw the group of juveniles in the Audi target a woman and her six-month-old baby in a carjacking attempt.
The woman managed to secure herself and her child in the car and called 000.
Detective Inspector Shepherd says two police vehicles had also been targeted by the stolen Audi.
“Yesterday morning at 4.30am, the stolen car pulled up next to a stationary, marked police car, and one of the occupants got out quickly with a golf club and hit the windscreen in the police car and then the stolen car drove away,” he says.
“Again, this morning around 4.50am the stolen car went past another stationary, marked police car and threw a large rock at the windscreen of the police car.”
No officers were injured in either incident.
According to police, as many as six juveniles and people in their early 20s have been seen in the Audi this week.
Officers are looking into a number of suspects and have started forensic examination of the recovered Audi.
