An unusual band of rain is moving across the state bringing record breaking rain.
While more than 100 millimetres has fallen across parts of the north, less rain is likely for the eastern region today.
Falls in excess of 60-70mm were recorded across Townsville, while 86mm fell at Nelly Bay overnight.

The weather system is expected to weaken with around 35mm of rain expected today and tomorrow before skies clear from Thursday.
